Biography | (1929-2008) Born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1929. Served in the US Navy, 1953-1956, as Naval Intelligence Officer. Served as Commanding Officer, Naval Reserve Intelligence Center, Phoenix, retired as Captain in 1975. American and Arizona history teacher, Scottsdale, helping to develop children for 29 years. Served as Scottsdale City Councilman, 1966-1974; and Mayor of Scottsdale, 1974-1980, during an economic recession. Was instrumental in the building/completion of Scottsdale’s first senior center, and completion of the City Hall and Vista del Camino Community Center, the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt, and Scottsdale’s Maricopa County Court Building. Active in ten civic commissions. Served as a volunteer Retired Affairs Specialist at the Navy Operational Support Center Phoenix, assisting veterans, 2001 to 2008. Life Member, Naval Order of the US, and the Association of the U.S. Navy. |
