| Biography | Born in San Mateo, California in 1968, Thomas Winkel, MA, LPC, and NCC, is a combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps with service in Japan, the Philippines, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and the Army National Guard in Oregon and Arizona. A licensed mental health therapist, Thomas has served as Director of the Arizona Coalition for Military Families (ACMF) since 2009 and co-developed the nationally recognized Be Connected program, a program that reduced suicides in the Arizona National Guard to zero for over three years. ACMF is a public-private partnership supporting Arizona’s 500,000+ service members, veterans and families. Thomas Winkel has led state and national efforts on prevention, trauma and systems of care with the Governor’s Office, VA, Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration, and the White House. |
