Biography | (1922-2000) Born in Texas, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in June, 1940, and served with the First Marine Division on Guadalcanal and other islands in the South Pacific, as well as in Korea. Retired in 1961. Served with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years until he was medically retired. Charter member of the 1st Marine Division Association, Phoenix Chapter, and Old Breed Detachment, Marine Corps League. Active in Fraternal Order of Police, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office; American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and others-to which he often provided financial assistance in support of their worthwhile programs. Member of the original committee to raise funds to send the first group of Navajo Code Talkers to Washington, DC for recognition. |
