Born in Escondido, California in 1974, Shane Groen served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS JOHN YOUNG. Shane has worked at the Arizona Housing Coalition since 2011 and currently serves as the Chief Programs Officer.

Working with the VA and community providers, Shane has assisted over 1,000 veterans in ending their homelessness. He is the administrator for the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services toolkit program which has enabled more than 800 veterans to find gainful employment. Shane also oversees the Arizona Veteran StandDown Alliance which serves more than 3,500 homeless and at-risk veterans annually across the state. Shane Groen is a board member for the non-profit Hope for Children, Ethiopia and has volunteer history with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, HandsOn Portland, The Mission Continues, and a number of other nonprofit organizations.
