Biography

Born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, in 1951, U.S. Army veteran Dr. Randall Howard Groth has served Arizona’s soldiers, veterans, and military families for decades. As founding dean of the University of Arizona South, he expanded higher education opportunities in rural Southern Arizona for generations of Fort Huachuca service members, veterans, and spouses. For 14 years, Groth served as Arizona’s Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, advocating for soldiers statewide and personally supporting wounded service members and military families. As a founding member and president of the Huachuca 50, he has spent more than three decades advocating for Fort Huachuca, its missions, and its national defense role. From counseling transitioning soldiers to supporting wounded warriors and engaging military and government leaders, Groth’s lifelong service has strengthened Arizona’s veterans, military families, communities, and enduring connection to the U.S. Army.
