Biography

Born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1954, Richard Fimbres served as a military policeman, patrol and narcotics dog handler and field medic in the US Army, retiring after 27½ years of service.  Richard retired from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department after 32 years.  Richard served as the Director of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for 6 ½ years. Richard serves as a City of Tucson Councilmember who has worked to open new businesses and create more than 14,000 new jobs in Ward 5.  Richard is an advocate for the homeless, creating the Homeless Coalition, the Homeless Work Program and the Change Program.  Richard Fimbres is a community activist, serving the Greater Tucson area through programs offered at the Community Food Bank, the Tucson VA Medical Center, and the LULAC/Southern Arizona Institute of Leadership Youth Leadership Conference which he founded.
