Biography | Born in Morenci, Arizona in 1949. Specialist FIVE, US Army, 1969-1971, with service in Vietnam. Resident of Gilbert, Arizona. For seven years Oscar volunteered for Junior Achievement, speaking to students in Tempe, Mesa, and Phoenix about skills, attitudes, and the means to employ their talents in the world. Since 1976 as Founder/President of In-Country Vietnam Veterans, Oscar led the efforts to build bronze monuments honoring veterans in Sacaton, Clifton, Solomon, Tempe, and Surprise. In 1993 the In-Country Vietnam Veterans organized the inaugural Veterans StandDown for Arizona homeless veterans in a tent city on McDowell Road. As an active member of the Ira H. Hayes American Legion Post 84 in Sacaton, Oscar handles the logistics for the annual February Anniversary Iwo Jima Flag Raising Military Parade and Flyover. |
