Biography | (1926 – 2012) Born in Tucson, Arizona in 1926. Served during World War II in U.S. Navy, 1944-1946. Member, Tucson American Legion since 1946, having served in virtually every capacity including State Commander in 1975. Member and former National Vice President of 40 & 8 Society, the honor society of the American Legion. Appointed by Governor Castro to a two-year term on Veterans Service Commission. Served on Board of Directors of Una Noche Plateada, a Hispanic group of Tucson citizens dedicated to offering educational scholarships to outstanding Hispanic students. Volunteered for many years at the Salvation Army Hospitality House assisting in preparing holiday dinners for as many as 2,500 needy and homeless people, and donating clothing and supplies to the House and St. Vincent De Paul Society. Active volunteer with Tucson VA Medical Center, visiting patients and distributing books, magazines, and other supplies. |
