Born in Marysville, Missouri in 1949, Larry Leighton served in the US Army (Artillery and Logistics) for 28 years. After retiring as a Colonel, Larry worked as a Project Manager for a logistics supply chain software devel-opment company. As Senior Vice Commander and current Commander, American Legion Mary Ellen Piotrowski Post 94, Sun City West, Larry has increased Post support to veterans needing assistance. An active member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Sun Cities Chapter 691, he serves as Department (State) Adjutant and has increased the number of Purple Heart Cities. In 2014 Larry helped establish the Corte Bella Vets, an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with over 250 members, which has contributed over $200,000 to veterans, veterans’ families, and to Arizona Veteran Chari¬ties. Larry Leighton is the current President of the Corte Bella Vets.
