Biography | (1920-2016) Born in Stewartville, Minnesota, in 1920. Served in U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII. Active in programs for the aged; led the building of two new Methodist churches in Omaha, NE. Received 1974 United Community Services Man of the Year Award in Omaha. Led the effort in Sun City West, AZ, to establish a Boulevard of Flags along R. H. Johnson Boulevard that was eventually dedicated in 1988 and for which he was awarded the George Washington Honor Medal by the Freedoms Foundation. Received American Legion Award for Patriotism and Dedication in 1990 and the Patrick Henry Medal for Patriotism from the Military Order of World Wars. Efforts promoting the Boulevard of Flags received one chapter in Tom Brokaw’s “The Greatest Generation.” Continues supporting the activities of American Ex-Prisoners of War and many other civic, military, and charitable organizations. |
