Biography | (1917-2013) Born in Ida Grove, Iowa, in 1917. Retired from U.S. Army in 1973 with 30 years’ service. Charter and life member, past commander, and current adjutant of Peoria VFW Post 2135. Officiated at over 2,200 Military Honor Internments at National Memorial Cemetery with over 92 services during November 1997 alone. Awarded VA Hospital Award for dedication of over 1,750 volunteer hours in 2001. Former Director, Luke Air Force Base Retiree Activities Office. Volunteer with Red Cross, driver for indigent people for medical treatment, and delivery man of Meals on Wheels for Peoria Community Center. Conducts informative classes with students of Peoria school system on patriotism, the role of the veteran, and drug prevention. His VFW Post recognized in 1995 as first in nation as Most Outstanding Post in Youth Activities for 1994-1995. |
