Biography

(1918 – 2006) Born in Kerrville, Texas. Retired as Colonel from U.S. Army in 1961. A college All-American, supported War Bond drives by playing on the Army All-Star football team against professional teams, 1941-1942. Elected to Sierra Vista, Arizona, City Council in 1967, and Mayor in 1969. Negotiated between City and Fort Huachuca for joint use of Libby Army Airfield, an agreement still in effect. Met with Commanding General of Fort Huachuca and worked out the annexation of Fort Huachuca into Sierra Vista, 1972. Served on Sierra Vista School Board and helped obtain tennis courts and a little theater in the school system. A long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, he has been recognized as the Mason of the Year Award twice in Arizona Masonry. In 2000, Sierra Vista opened the Henry F. Hauser Museum in honor of his civic contributions. He served as Grand Marshal in the annual Veterans’ Day Parade on November 11, 2002.
