Biography | (1921 – 2014) Born in Lorimor, Iowa in 1921, enlisted in U.S. Army in 1942, discharged in 1946 as First Lieutenant. Taught school for 42 years. Active member of National Education Association for 37 years. Volunteer with Special Olympics and Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers Program (taking senior citizens shopping and providing other support.) Supports Arizona State Veterans Home at least twice weekly with service in the gift shop, assistance with outings of the Alzheimer’s unit, and numerous other activities of the Home. Former Sunday School teacher, remains deacon of her church. Recognized by many education institutions and organizations for her dedicated service to young people, especially those with special education and literacy requirements. Life member of the American Legion and an active participant in the Women Overseas League. Member of WIMSA (Women in Military Service Association) and actively involved with local chapter of the Women’s Army Corps and their charitable functions. |
