Biography

(1937-2018) Born in San Pedro, California and raised in Hawaii, Frank Hoak enlisted in the U S Navy in 1955, graduated Officer Candidate School, served in Naval Intelligence, and retired as Captain with 29 years active and reserve service.

Frank’s varied career included employment with the Shell Oil Company, author-photographer, and teacher in the travel industry.  Following his retirement in Hawaii, Frank moved his family to Arizona in 2011.  An active member of MOAA, Arizona Chapter, Frank volunteered at the annual Maricopa StandDown and assisted with the annual golf tournament to benefit JROTC/ROTC scholarships.  From 2012-2017 he spearheaded the annual VFW Fountain Hills Post 7507 golf tournament raising $190,000 for veterans needing assistance.  From 2014-2018, Frank Hoak volunteered over 900 hours at the Sky Harbor Airport USO facility assisting military travelers and their families.
