Born in Denver, Colorado, in 1951, Eugene John Wikle served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he worked for L-3 Communications in Afghanistan, volunteering for more than five years on humanitarian service projects during his off-duty hours. He later served as director of Veterans Services at Central Arizona Shelter Services in Phoenix, senior assistant director and chief of staff at the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, and emergency coordinator and special projects manager at the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. An Eagle Scout, Gene is a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association, the Air Force Association, the American Legion, and the Luke Chapter of MOAA. He received the 2026 MOAA National Leadership Service Award and serves as an Imprints of Honor advocate for Carl T. Hayden High School.
