Biography

Born in Cortez, Colorado in 1940, Darren Venters served in the US Air Force as a jet engine mechanic from 1958 to 1963.  He continued to serve in the USAF Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1994.  Darren retired from a Caterpillar dealership as a General Manager Product Support.  Darren supported Guardsmen and Reservists by volunteering with the Arizona Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for over 19 years, briefing hundreds of employers and service members on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act (USERRA).  Darren serves as Legislative Director, Green Valley MOAA/Military Officers Association of America Chapter.  Darren Venters was instrumental in prevailing upon the Arizona Legislature to exempt military pensions and benefits from Arizona income tax; he also advocated for veteran benefits counselors and extending the Post-9/11 Military Family Relief Fund.
