Biography

Born in Warren, OH in 1949, Cheryl Schmidt served as a U.S. Army Nurse for 22 years, retiring as a LTC in 1996. She has taught Bachelor of Science in Nursing students since 1974 at four previous nursing programs, currently at ASU Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Phoenix. Cheryl’s civic accomplishments include Consultant, National Student Nurses’ Association; National Nursing Committee, American Red Cross; and Board Member, International Society for Disaster Medicine and Public Health. Cheryl’s veteran advocacy accomplishments include Military/Veterans Expert Panel for the American Academy of Nursing since 2011; Volunteer, ASU Pat Tillman Veteran Center, Tempe; active member, Saguaro Chapter 68, Women’s Army Corps. Phoenix; and Volunteer, Mayor’s Military Mission, Glendale, AZ. As a nurse for over 55 years, Cheryl Schmidt is truly an inspiring educator and an effective leader.
