Biography | (1938-2017) Born in New York City, New York in 1938, Chris Maloney served in the US Army, 1967-1987, as a Green Beret medical doctor, with duty in the Dominican Republic and two tours in Vietnam; retiring as a Colonel in 1987. In 1972 Chris had returned to Vietnam with Physicians for Vietnam and performed over 500 complex heart and chest surgeries helping Vietnamese patients pro bono. From 1980-1986 he performed pro bono cardiothoracic surgeries at the Tucson VA Medical Center. From 2002 to 2017, as a member of the DM50 nonprofit organization, Chris helped raise $1.5 million dollars to help Tucson servicemembers and their families transition to civilian life. A lifelong member of The Centurions group of community leaders in Tucson, Chris Maloney raised funds for worthwhile projects, among them, a burn center, a mental health unit, and an emergency facility. |
