Biography | (1931-2018) Born in Sumrall , Mississippi in 1931. Enlisted in U.S. Army in 1952, served 12 years in communications at the White House under Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson; served in Vietnam. Retired in 1972 with rank of Master Sergeant. Following discharge, worked for the United States Postal Service; retired after 20 years. Was significant in plans for the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Served over 30 years as a Service Officer for Veterans of Foreign Wars; received many accomplishment awards from the national organization. Has participated in Color Guard activities since 1979. Active in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, nursing homes, active duty military, and school groups activities. Received national recognition from Military Order of the Purple Heart for service to community, fellow citizens, and veterans. |
