Biography

Born in Rochester, NY in 1945, Arthur “Art” Sharf served in the US Army as a military policeman, 1967-1969. His civilian career included Optical Worker and Optical Technician, Eastman Kodak, 1963-1993. Art’s civic accomplishments include Fundraiser, Knights of Pythius; he helped to establish the JROTC program at Hamilton High School, Chandler, AZ. Art’s veterans advocacy accomplishments while serving in leadership positions (2007-2020: Post Commander, Board Member, and Chair, Poppy Drive, raising $150,000 during 2015-2020) at the Jewish War Veterans, Post 619, Sun Lakes, AZ; resulted in investing in other nonprofit veteran service organizations such as Catholic Charities MANA House, U.S. VETS-Phoenix; and Maricopa County StandDown. Art Sharf’s focus on helping veterans in need and his legacy of innovative approaches, programs, and systems continues to inspire veterans and veterans organizations.
