| Biography | (1896-1918) Corporal, 78th Company, 6th Regiment, 2nd Division, USMC. Born in Arkansas, entered service in Tucson, AZ. He received both Army and Navy Medals of Honor for action on 3 October 1918 at Mont Blanc Ridge, France. Corporal Pruitt, single-handedly attacked two machine guns, capturing them and killing two of the enemy. He then captured 40 prisoners in a dugout nearby. He was killed soon afterward by shellfire while sniping at the enemy. |
