Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Scholarship provides monetary assistance to veterans, eligible family members of veterans, and National Guard/Reserve members attending institutions of higher learning within the state of Arizona.
- Description: Applicants for the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Scholarship must be honorably discharged veterans, family members (spouse or dependent child) of an honorably discharged veteran, or currently serving military members in good standing with a Reserve or Guard unit.
- Annual Policy: AVHOFS will advertise availability of scholarships through notification to institutions of higher learning within the state as well as to veteran organizations that are members of Unified Arizona Veterans.
- Requirements:
- Submit proof of permanent residency in Arizona, e.g., AZ Driver’s License, Voter Registration card, etc.
- Must be participating in a program leading to an Associates, Baccalaureate or Post Graduate Degree and attending an institution of higher learning, to include trade schools, within the state of Arizona, while living in the state of Arizona.
- The institution must be eligible to receive GI Bill funds through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Separated military applicants must have received an “Honorable” discharge from service.
- Family member applicants (spouse or dependent child) of a veteran must provide proof of their relationship to the Veteran and a DD214 or NGB Form 22 showing the veteran received an “Honorable” discharge from service.
- Military applicants serving in a Reserve or Guard unit must submit a letter (on official letterhead) verifying that they are currently serving and are in good standing and that at least three years of creditable service have been completed.
- Applicants must submit the income/expense disclosure form as part of the application.
- Applicant will submit a one-page (typed, double-spaced) essay stating why they chose their current academic program and how they plan to use their degree, certificate, or license.
- Applicant’s packet must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from one of their school instructors or counselors along with a copy of their college transcripts.
- Application packet, enclosure (1), will consist of the signed application, copy of applicant’s/veteran’s DD-214 or NGB-22 (SSAN will not be retained by AVHOFS), completed financial needs assessment form, applicant’s personal essay, letter of recommendation, and proof of enrollment and Arizona residency. All these items are listed on the application form checklist.

- Application packets must be received NLT 15 February.
- A portrait style color photograph suitable for publication in event program is required upon selection. The photograph is NOT required PRIOR to selection.
- The AVHOFS Scholarship Committee shall oversee the scholarship selection process. The number of scholarships to be awarded and the monetary amount of the awards will be recommended by the AVHOFS Scholarship Committee with final approval to be determined by the AVHOFS Board of Directors.
- Applicants selected are expected to attend the AVHOFS award ceremony.
