AVHOFS Military/Veteran Outreach Projects:
The AVHOFS Military/Veteran Outreach Project’s purpose is to identify and support those projects that are beneficial to the interests of veterans, military personnel, their families and their survivors. These projects must uphold and preserve the dignity and honor of the Arizona Veteran’s Hall of Fame (AVHOF) at all times, and on all occasions, foster and perpetuate service and patriotism to our State and Nation while helping fellow veterans, military personnel and/or their families or survivors.
The AVHOFS is currently supporting the following major projects:
Scholarships
We offer financial scholarships to Veterans attending Arizona institutions of higher learning, to students who provide care and support of Veterans by volunteering time at Veterans Administration (VA) health care facilities, and to students who participate with the Veterans Heritage Project. This program develops character and civic responsibility in students by providing experiential learning programs that honor veterans and preserve their legacy.
Veterans Courts
The Society also supports Veterans who need a hand up when they appear before an Arizona Veterans Court. Prepaid assistance cards for gasoline, groceries or bus/rail passes are frequent options. Each court displays a unique banner acknowledging military service. Graduating Veterans receive an exclusive Veterans Court Challenge Coin commemorating the six branches of military service.
