Biography | (1923-2009) Born in Woodward, Iowa in 1923. Entered U.S. Navy in 1944, and served on a mine sweeper, including Nagasaki Harbor following the dropping of the bomb, discharged in 1946. Became active in American Legion, Rural Water District, and served as director for the Guthrie County Rural Electric Cooperative. Worked with 4-H and church youth groups and, with his wife, fostered troubled teens. Relocated to Arizona in 1979. Helped charter an American Legion in Prescott Valley. Charter member of Prescott Valley United Methodist Church, traveled to Mexico twice to rebuild churches. Worked with police department to organize a bicycle rodeo, mentored a young man to receive his Eagle Scout award. Regular volunteer at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center with over 1,500 hours, and 2,750 at the Yavapai Regional Medical Canter. |
