Biography | Born at US Naval Base, Subic Bay, Philippines in 1982, Rachel Gutierrez served in the US Army for almost five years, including service in Iraq, 2004-2005. Her last assignment was Sergeant/Human Resources Specialist at Fort Hood, TX. In 2013 and 2016, Rachel founded The Mission Continues 1st and 2nd Platoons in Phoenix, where teams of veterans are integrated back into the community with local businesses, community volunteers, and youth to tackle homelessness, revitalize communities and underserved populations, and mentor disadvantaged, at-risk youth. Platoon Leader Rachel has contributed over 4,300 volunteer service hours leading more than 700 individuals in 95 service projects valued at over $220,000. As Planning Chairperson of Congressman Gallego’s Veterans Action Council, and active member of Congresswoman Sinema’s Veterans Advisory Council, Rachel Gutierrez continues to focus and resolve veteran, community and youth issues in Arizona. |
