Biography

Born in Paragould, Arkansas in 1945, John South served in the US Army active duty and Reserve over 30 years, including duty in Vietnam; retiring in 2006 as Colonel, Chaplain Corps.

While serving as Chaplain, Phoenix Police Department in 1991, John founded Law Enforcement Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which provided chaplaincy support to the Phoenix and Glendale Police Departments, and to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Phoenix until 2011.

In April 1999 John volunteered to travel to Columbine, Colorado where he served as chaplain to law enforcement personnel after the Columbine High School shooting and attempted bombing. In 2001 John South volunteered to travel to New York City to minister to victim search teams after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, serving for one year.
