Biography

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1951, Kim McCoy served in the Marine Corps for 27 years with duty in Japan and the Philippines, retiring as Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Kim’s civilian career included quality assurance in the electronics industry and para-educator in reading and mathematics at Nautilus Elementary School, Lake Havasu City (LHC). Kim is an active volunteer at the LHC StandDown which helps veterans to access services. An active leader in the Marine Corps League (MCL) Detachment 757, Kim co-founded the Lake Havasu Military Coalition, now known as the Veterans Resource Team (fifty veteran and non-veteran organizations) which coordinates veteran financial requests and grants, and has collected $20,000 in support of the LHC Veterans Treatment Court program. Kim McCoy also volunteers with the MCL Toys for Tots Program and the MCL Color Guard/Honor Guard.
