Biography | Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1945, George Bliss grew up in Arizona and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1967. He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years in Space Systems development. George’s civic and veterans’ support and advocacy accomplishments include nineteen years supporting Mesa HoHoKams, a service organization which promotes and supports youth sports in the East Valley; eight years Board Member and former Board Chair, Oakwood Creative Care, a day club for adults with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other dementia-related conditions and where veterans are regularly assisted; and four years as Council Member, Veterans Medical Leadership Council (VMLC) Phoenix which works with the Phoenix VA Medical Center to advocate for veterans, and raise funds to meet veterans’ needs and provide transitional assistance between medical treatment and adjusting to civilian life. |
