Biography

(1945-2018) Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Edward McDowell served in the US Army including duty in Vietnam, 1968-1970; retiring as Assistant Commandant, U.S. Army Reserve Force, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  Ed’s second retirement was that of a tax attorney, IRS Phoenix District. An active member of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW), Billie I. Stephens Chapter, Ed was a strong supporter of education: regarding MOWW’s annual Arizona Youth Leadership Conference, the week-long civic education program at no cost for high school students; Ed donated significant funds, and through his fundraising efforts, he raised almost $25,000 to sponsor 62 students to the program.  Each year for many years, Ed and his wife Diane McDowell sponsored a veteran law student at the Sandra Day O’Connor Law School, Arizona State University.
