Biography

(1919 – 2011) Joseph C. Schabacker was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in1919. He retired from the US Marine Corps as a Colonel, in 1975. He was the former Vice President, Arizona State University; and retired as Professor Emeritus, in 1988.Joseph was a notable business management author, lecturer and consultant. Joseph served on the White House Small Business Conferences under Presidents Eisenhower and Carter. He was the founding volunteer member of the nonprofit City of Tempe Municipal Property Corporation, which funded Tempe’s City Municipal Building and others. Joseph served on the national boards of the American Cancer Society, the National Council for Small Business, and the US Olympic Committee. He was a Judge and delegate to the International Federation of Sports and Acrobatics and President, US Sports Acrobatics, 1975-1994. He received the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Joseph served as the Arizona Chairman, Reserve Officers Association’s Junior and Senior ROTC awards program until his death in 2011.
