Your Society, in partnership with the Unified Arizona Veterans, is busy planning the induction of the AVHOF 2021 Class.  There are sixteen (16) members of the 2021 class that will be inducted along with three members of the 2020 class that have yet to be inducted.  The plans for the day are as follows:

Reception:
The Society serves as host for the reception which is specifically for members of the 2020 and 2021 class, their significant others and nominators.  It is open to all members of the Society and UAV Board of Directors.  Our Vice President, Pat Little-Upah is serving as the Master of Ceremonies, and she has listed additional reception details in her Vice President’s Notes.  Please check out the specifics there.

  • Call to Order at 1130 and the formal activities commence.
  • Lunch is served at 1215.

  • Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs will address the audience.
  • Inductees will be called forward for the presentation of the AVHOF Medallion and plaque.

A more detailed schedule of events will be available in a few weeks.  I will send this out to each member along with any other pertinent information available at that time.  I look forward to seeing you all at the Reception and Induction.  Please consider joining me in meeting these new Society members.

Society Board of Directors Nominations:
The Society has three Director seats open for 2022-2023.  Gerry Berger is chairing the Nomination Committee and she is actively looking for members who would like to get more involved.  Please reach out to her if you are interested --   bergergerry@hotmail.com.  In addition to three Director Seats, we are still seeking members to fill the position of Chaplain and the position of Assistant Treasurer.  Please contact me directly if you would like to discuss these positions.  480-363-0044

Annual Business Meeting:
We are planning an Annual Business meeting with a tentative date of January 12, 2022.  The business of the Society will be reviewed and discussed along with the election and installation of new officers and directors.  Please mark your calendars and expect more information to come as we put this meeting together.

VICE PRESIDENT'S NOTES

Pat Little-Upah
AVHOFS Vice President
Class of 2014

We would like to invite all members of The AZ Veterans Hall of Fame Society to help us to welcome the 2021 inductees into the Az. Veterans Hall of Fame.  Unified Arizona Veterans will be holding the official induction ceremony on Oct 15th at The Talking Stick Resort Conference Center, 9800 E. Talking Stick Way Scottsdale, Az. 85256.  Registration is available on the Unified Arizona Veterans website, azuav.org

A special reception, continental breakfast and pinning ceremony hosted by the AZ Veterans Hall of Fame Society and Unified Arizona Veterans will be held at 9 A.M.  The Society and UAV work closely together promoting and projecting our unity of purpose and interconnected relationship.  This is open to all members of The AZ Veterans Hall of Fame Society.  This is an opportunity for existing members to meet and get to know the new inductees.  It is an excellent opportunity to share what being a member of this unique society means and encourage them to get involved.  Sharing that the society is more than just continuing to honor those who have served this nation and our Veterans.  The society is comprised of Veterans who are continuing to give back through ongoing support of programs like the Veterans Courts of Arizona and the MOM’s program, being there at funerals and times of loss to support families, holding the annual Patriotic Awards Luncheon to recognize those non-veterans who have gone above and beyond to help the Veteran community, and providing scholarships to students and veterans.  Please let Pat Upah VP of the Society know if you will be able to attend the breakfast reception at patupah@gmail.com or if you would like to get more involved with your Society and its ongoing work supporting our Veterans.

TREASURER'S NOTES

Jerry Wojtas
AVHOFS Treasurer
Class of 2011

We have members who contribute to our General Fund, some to student meals during our Patriotic Awards Event, some to our Veterans Court Program and some that say ‘wherever you need it the most’.  But by far, our greatest need is our Century Club program.  As we go to press with our Sept. issue, our Century Club total stands at $2,410.

Our Century Club is where we get our funds to award scholarships to deserving students and veteran scholars.  There is no other place for your Society to get funds to support this program.  Thank goodness that we have members who support us with donations of $200, $300 and even $400.  They help make up for those who cannot, for one reason or another, who contribute at all.

If times are tough and you need assistance in your daily life, make your Society officers aware of your situation.  We are all members of the same Society and will do whatever we can to assist one another.

Please remember that anytime you are mailing anything to our Society, use the full address to ensure that your letter/check gets to the right place.  If any part of our complete address is omitted, your mail will not reach us.
