| PRESIDENT’S NOTES

Dear Hall of Famers,
I hope you have registered for our Society’s Patriotic Gala to be held on 21 April. I had earlier sent an email reminding you about the registration deadlines. The Gala is your Society’s one big annual event that, together with the Unified Arizona Veterans, honors deserving individuals, organizations and students with our Copper Awards.
By the time you see this, the nominations for the Class of 2018 of the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame will have been closed. Our hope is that we will be welcoming an outstanding group of very deserving veterans into our Society following the 26 October Induction Ceremony. I will attempt to keep you posted as the selection process proceeds in the next few months.
Your Society can always use your financial help to support your Society’s programs. Contributing money is always good! The Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity. Another easy way is to contribute through AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com). This is further described in an article in this edition of the newsletter.
Yet another way you can help is to get involved with the programs and activities of the Society. We are currently looking for members that may be interested in either being on our governing board as directors or in other positions. For example, we are currently looking for an editor for these newsletters and an assistant treasurer. We have many committees you might consider as well, some of which do not require meetings or trips to Phoenix. I hope to expand on our committees next time.

Did you know your Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society has a Facebook page? Yes, we do, and you can LIKE it if you search for the “Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society” page. Information such as our 2018 Patriotic Gala is posted here and photographs from various previous events are shared here also. Please check information and updates as they are posted. If you have any difficulties finding the page, please let me know and I will help you.

GALA UPDATE

REGISTRATION ENDS APRIL 11TH!
Have you registered for the Gala? Register online or download the fillable and printable registration form and mail it in with your check.
Lodging Reservations have been setup at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort for the evening of 21 April. Gala attendees who wish to take advantage of this special group rate must register . The rate includes happy hour and breakfast. If individuals call the hotel directly to make reservations, they will need to mention the Gala. 480-949-1414

CENTURY CLUB
Your AVHOFS Century Club is always in need of your kind donations for our worthy students. We encourage all of you to consider donating $100 for this purpose. Of course, your donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made out to the AVHOFS Century Club and mailed to AVHOFS, 4980 South Alma School Road, A2-619, Chandler AZ 85248. Thus far this year our donations to the Century Club have been less than we hoped so if you haven’t already made a donation, please do. We appreciate your support. |

ABOUT USING PAYPAL
Occasionally one of our Society members will decide to use PayPal to make a donation or perhaps pay for a purchase made in our Country Store. That is perfectly acceptable as long as you realize that the Society won’t receive the amount you send. As an example, if you decide to donate $100 to our Century Club, you would find that we would only receive $96.80. The other $3.20 is the commission that PayPal takes as their share of doing business.
The other thing to keep in mind is that without additional information, the Society treasurer will have no idea for what the money was intended. Please take a moment to fill out the “Add special instructions to the seller” section on the PayPal form or send our Society treasurer an email, make a phone call (623-544-4477) or mail a note with what you want done with your money. |
