Biography

(1927-2002) Born in New York in 1927, moved permanently to Arizona in 1957. Entered the U.S. Air Force in 1945; retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1970. Assignment to the Commander in Chief, Soviet Forces, East Germany, led to the award of the Airman’s Medal for heroism for numerous attempts to rescue downed American aircrewmen in restricted East German areas. Has briefed Presidents Johnson and Nixon and other high level national officials. Held numerous offices in Department of Arizona American Legion, the Air Force Association, and National Association for Uniformed Services, The Retired Officers Association, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Has served on Senator Jon Kyl’s and Congressman John Shadegg’s Military Advisory Committees. Past chairman of the Unified Arizona Veterans; appointed by Governor Hull to the Veterans Services Advisory Commission.
