Biography

Born in Paulding, Ohio in 1943. Staff Sergeant, US Army, 1967-1969 with service in Vietnam. Resident of Tempe, Arizona. An active member of the VFW since 1989, Ray has been a selfless volunteer and advocate for veterans for over 24 years. In his service to veterans across the State, he has logged 20,000 miles annually for many years. He has promoted citizenship and Americanism among students through various VFW programs such as the Voice of Democracy essay contests for high school students, and Patriot’s Pen essay contests for grades 6-8. He has volunteered countless hours at the VA Medical Center and the State Veteran Home Phoenix. Ray has raised thousands of dollars, through events such as the VFW Buddy Poppy program and golf tournaments, for numerous projects that promote the welfare of veterans.
