Biography

(1926 – 2012) Born Chicago, Illinois, in 1926. Entered U.S. Army 1944, served in Europe; discharged in 1946 with rank of Corporal. Supervised construction of the Sears Tower; supervised construction of Survive Alive House in Chicago to teach fire safety to children. Named Honorary Battalion Chief and received Chicago Public Service Award from Mayor Richard J. Daley. Active in Boy Scouts in Chicago and Arizona. Retired from Maricopa Sheriff’s Posse in Sun City; active in Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge portraying Uncle Sam for living history programs. Volunteer service officer for Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services. Active as Commander, American Legion Post 101, Sun City; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Northwest Valley Veterans Association. Organizes decoration of veterans’ graves for Memorial Day, and disposal of 6,000 flags annually by burning.
