Biography

Born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1947, Lionel Sanchez saw active duty in Vietnam in 1968-1969 in the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  After graduating from Arizona State University in the 1970’s, he was commissioned and served as an Infantry Officer in the US Army in Korea.  He served 8 years as a Veteran’s Representative, Congressman Ed Pastor’s office.  Since 2010, he has advocated on behalf of veterans as a Commissioner on the Arizona Veterans’ Service Advisory Commission, Board Member on the U.S. VETS Advisory Board (transitional housing for homeless vets), and volunteer at the Arizona StandDowns and especially the State Veteran Home, Phoenix.  An active member and Past President of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 432 Phoenix, he helped to raise $10,000 for scholarships for children of veterans.
