Biography

Born in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1946. Active duty US Navy Seabees in 1966 with two tours in Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart. Jim served as Chairman for the National Sportscasters, Sportswriters Association & Hall of Fame and the Holiday Caravan Parade in North Carolina. Jim moved to Arizona in 2002 and became active in the East Valley Veterans Parade, serving as Parade Chairperson and President. Under his leadership, the parade has grown from 76 entries to 111 with over 2,600 participants involved. Spectators grew from 15,000 to over 36,000 spectators in 2013. Jim serves as the Military Coordinator for Arizona Celebration of Freedom and Constitution Week Fair. Jim also served as Military Coordinator for the Arizona Centennial Celebration in Phoenix and Prescott.
