Biography

(1934-2006) Born in Syracuse, NY in 1934. Served 23 years in the USMC, including four combat tours in Korea and three combat tours in Vietnam. Master Gunnery Sergeant, Retired. To help fellow veterans, he became active in the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, championing veterans issues and especially homeless veterans issues. As Dept of AZ Commander, DAV, he obtained support for a homeless/transition shelter for homeless veterans in Tucson (the Esparanza Escalante facility, still operating). He served as President, AZ Homeless Veterans Center; and Committeeman, Maricopa County Homeless Veterans. Was Life Member, DAV, serving in many chapter positions including Commander; at State level, he served as Senior Vice Commander. As Regional Representative for AZ, NV, and HI, he served on the DAV National Executive Committee.
