Biography

(1922-2015) Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1922. Served as Yeoman Second Class in the U.S. Navy WAVES; “Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service” from 1943 to 1946. Attended Purdue University under the G.I. Bill, married, and relocated to Arizona. Following the death of her husband, was active for 17 years in Senior Olympics earning 95 medals in swimming, race-walking, aerobic dance, and dash. Certified in Scuba, 40 ft. deep dive off San Clemente, CA. Olympic Torch Bearer in 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. Graduated from astronaut training program at Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson. Graduated from Phoenix Citizen Police Academy. Volunteer for Phoenix Symphony, and Herberger and Orpheum Theaters. Active member of Cactus Waves in Mesa, served two years as State Director.
