Biography

(1919-2014) Born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1919. Served in U.S. Army in WWII. Former Arizona Department Commander, American Legion: led membership attainment to exceed 3 million members in 1988-89. Past chairman, Unified Arizona Veterans. Helped lead effort to bring about funding and land acquisition for Arizona State Veterans Home and continues volunteer support to Home. Has over 20 years of service to the Arizona State Fair Veterans Recognition Committee and over 15 years to the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona Support Committee. As a long time Lions Club member, leads fundraising to support Del Webb Hospital, Peoria Little League, a camp for children with special needs in Lakeside, AZ, and other charitable and community programs. Continues to volunteer one day a week patrolling the Sun City area with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse.
