Biography

Born in Glendale, California in 1948, Gene Crego served in the US Marine Corps including two tours in Vietnam, retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant with 21.5 years of service. Relocating to Arizona, Gene worked security at the Flamingo Hilton, Laughlin, NV until retiring a second time. A Life Member of six veteran service organizations, Gene is the Past Commander, American Legion Post 14; Founding President, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 975, Founding Chair, Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council; and Founder of the VVA VSO Office, all located in Mohave County. Serving as VVA Arizona State Council President since 2012, Gene annually drives over 12,000 miles in support of veterans, and serves on three National VVA Committees: Veterans Benefits, Women Veterans, and Government Affairs. Gene Crego regularly advocates on behalf of veterans at the Arizona State Legislature and on Capitol Hill.
