Biography

Born in Springerville, Arizona in 1937, Don Price served in the US Marine Corps for over thirty-three years including three combat tours in Vietnam. He retired as a highly decorated infantry colonel in 1993. Stepping up to re-activate a declining chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, he recruited younger Purple Heart Recipients; their first Chapter project was to collect books, videos, and games for convalescing Wounded Warriors at Fort Huachuca.  In 2007 Don founded the Sierra Vista Thunder Mountain Detachment #1283, Marine Corps League, which established a Toys for Tots program that has grown over the years, including partnering with the Border Patrol and the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.  In 2007 Don Price volunteered for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Assist Team where he accomplished patrol officer and background investigator duties.
