Born in Lordsburg, New Mexico in 1936. Active duty Sergeant, U.S. Army, five years; Arizona National Guard, seven years. Resident of San Manuel, Arizona. Former Deputy Sheriff, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office. A forty-year member of The American Legion, Joe dedicated thirty of those years to youth in the community, including volunteering as a Counselor and Member of the Board of Directors, The American Legion Boys State program. Joe participates in the honoring of San Manuel’s veterans in the Mammoth-San Manuel Unified School District Patriotism Day celebrations each November. He served as State Commander, The American Legion, in 2002; and is a past State Commander of 40 & 8, the Honor Society of The American Legion. Joe served as the National Executive Committeeman for Arizona, The American Legion, for eight years.
