Biography

Born in Concordia, Kansas in 1930. Civilian career included Chief of Nursing, Professor of Nursing, Professor Emeritus. Twenty years of service in the US Army Reserves including service in Operation Desert Storm; Lieutenant Colonel, Retired. As member and Senior Vice Commander of the Military Order of World Wars, Phoenix Chapter, actively supports the Youth Leadership program. An active member and Past President of the Women’s Overseas Service League, Cholla Unit, assists families of deployed soldiers. An American Red Cross volunteer since 1995, has worked 19 disasters from Hurricane Andrew to 9/11 to Hurricane Katrina. Established and operated a 24/7 Mental Health Unit at the Veterans Coliseum, Phoenix, serving 650 Katrina survivors. Currently researching and writing the Coping with Deployment protocols for volunteers assisting the families of deployed soldiers.
