Sloane, Arthur (Art)




Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1935. Served in Air National Guard, 1952-1954, USAF 1954-1961, Air National Guard, 1961-1966; U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, 1966-1995, retired as Command Enlisted Advisor in 1995. Began career as a schoolteacher and remains a substitute teacher. Writes “Valley Vets Column” for Arizona Republic. Member of Jewish War Veterans (JWV) and volunteers as a service officer. Active member of Korean War Veterans, Desert Navy, and Air Force Association. Leader in Hamilton High School Veterans Graduation Project, which enables veterans to participate in graduation ceremonies they missed due to reporting for active duty. Active in Sun Lakes Kiwanis; advisor to Hamilton High School Key Club; advisor to K-Kids club at Maricopa Elementary School. Supports Victory Place residence-employment program and Phoenix VA Medical Center.
